Tuesday September 30, 2025 - Jesus the Savior

Chapter 18: Jesus the Savior Day 3  Praying the Name:      Luke 15:1-7 -  Then all the tax collectors and the sinners drew near to Him to hear Him.  2  And the Pharisees and scribes complained, saying, “This Man receives sinners and eats with them.”  3  So He spoke this parable to them, saying:  4  “What man of you, having a hundred sheep, if he loses one of them, does not leave the ninety-nine in the wilderness, and go after the one which is lost until he finds it?   5  And when he has found  it,  he lays  it  on his shoulders, rejoicing.   6  And when he comes home, he calls together  his  friends and neighbors, saying to them,   ‘Rejoice with me, for I have found my sheep   which was lost!’   7  I say to you that likewise there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents   than over ninety-nine  just persons who   need no rep...

Chapter 18: Jesus the Savior Day 2 The Name Revealed:      Matthew 1:18-25 -  Now the birth of Jesus Christ was as follows: After His mother Mary was betrothed to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Spirit.  19  Then Joseph her husband, being a just  man,  and not wanting to make her a public example, was minded to put her away secretly.  20  But while he thought about these things, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, “Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take to you Mary your wife, for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit.  21  And she will bring forth a Son, and you shall call His name  Jesus , for He will save His people from their sins.”  22  So all this was done that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the Lord through the prophet, saying:  23  “Behold, the virgin shall be with...

Sunday September 28, 2025 - Jesus the Savior

Chapter 18: Jesus the Savior Day 1 The Name:      Just as Yahweh is God's personal name revealed in the Old Testament, Jesus is the name of the one we call redeemer, Lord and Christ.  His name is intimately linked to the God of the Hebrew scriptures because it means Yahweh is salvation. Indeed Jesus is Yahweh come to earth.      If you have ever thought of God as a distant wrathful being, you will have to reconsider that thought, in light of Jesus Christ who is God bending toward us, God becoming one of us, God reaching out in mercy, God humbling Himself, God nailed to a cross, God rising up from the grave, to show us the way home.      Jesus name above all names, beautiful Savior, Glorious Lord,  Key Scripture:  Matthew 1:20-21 -  But while he thought about these things, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, “Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take to you Mary your wife, for th...

Friday September 26, 2025 - Alpha & Omega

Chapter 17: Alpha & Omega Day 6 Promises Associated with His Name     On October 29th, 1941 - Winston Churchill delivered a speech at Haro a prestigious boarding school in northwest London, in which he uttered these now famous words. Never give in, never give in, never, never, never, never, in nothing, great or small, large or petty, never give in, except to convictions of honor, and good sense. Never yield to force. Never yield to the apparently overwhelming might of the enemy,   The speech was given against the dark backdrop of WWII, Churchills spirit of defiance helped to bolster the faith of a nation under siege.      This kind of never give up attitude, should characterize our lives as Christians because Jesus Himself never gave up. His last words on the cross were not about surrendering in the face of overwhelming opposition, but about finishing. "It is finished" He cried. This determination to finish what He had begun is still true of ...

Chapter 17: Alpha & Omega Day 4 Praying the Name:  Colossians 1:15-20 -  15  He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation.  16  For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him.  17  And He is before all things, and in Him all things consist.  18  And He is the head of the body, the church, who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in all things He may have the preeminence.  19  For it pleased  the Father that  in Him all the fullness should dwell,  20  and by Him to reconcile all things to Himself, by Him, whether things on earth or things in heaven, having made peace through the blood of His cross.
