 Chapter 3: Child Day 3

Isaiah 9:6For unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given; And the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

Luke 1:42Then she spoke out with a loud voice and said, “Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb!

Luke 1:26-45Now in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent by God to a city of Galilee named Nazareth, to a virgin betrothed to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David. The virgin’s name was Mary. And having come in, the angel said to her, “Rejoice, highly favored one, the Lord is with you; blessed are you among women!” But when she saw him, she was troubled at his saying and considered what manner of greeting this was.  Then the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God. And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bring forth a Son and shall call His name JesusHe will be great and will be called the Son of the Highest; and the Lord God will give Him the throne of His father David. And He will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and of His kingdom there will be no end.” Then Mary said to the angel, “How can this be, since I do not know a man?” And the angel answered and said to her, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Highest will overshadow you; therefore, also, that Holy One who is to be born will be called the Son of God. 36 Now indeed, Elizabeth your relative has also conceived a son in her old age; and this is now the sixth month for her who was called barren. For with God nothing will be impossible.” Then Mary said, “Behold the maidservant of the Lord! Let it be to me according to your word.” And the angel departed from her. Now Mary arose in those days and went into the hill country with haste, to a city of Judah, and entered the house of Zacharias and greeted Elizabeth. And it happened, when Elizabeth heard the greeting of Mary, that the babe leaped in her womb; and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit. Then she spoke out with a loud voice and said, “Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb! But why is this granted to me, that the mother of my Lord should come to me?  For indeed, as soon as the voice of your greeting sounded in my ears, the babe leaped in my womb for joy. Blessed is she who believed, for there will be a fulfillment of those things which were told her from the Lord.”

Father,

I want to praise You for keeping all Your promises to Your people, for making promises in the Bible that we can claim and pray to You. For allowing the promises for the Jews to come to us gentiles that we are Your children too. You came as a baby to fulfill that promise, which led to many more promises too.

Your ways are so much higher than ours and I thank You that You have set up Your Word, so that we can read and learn and grow in the ways that You have us to do and that You are such a wonderful God who wants us to live for You and stand in You.

Father, forgive me to relying on myself more than I rely on You and help me to stand in You. I want to rely on You and look to You for all the help  and direction that I need in my life. I want to live for You every day.

I ask then that You will help the sweaters to go faster for me that I can get all of these sweaters finished by August and move on to something other than chickens, I want to rely on You to keep me helping Nana and doing things in the backroom and den this summer with the sweaters too.

Lord, I need grace to depend on You. I have learned never to depend on RC for anything, and it is then hard to depend on You as Father. But I am learning and working to depend on You as I depend on Nana or more. Help me to put You first and be given the grace I need because it is not going to come naturally.

    In Jesus Name,

        Amen

Would we dream up the Gospels? Jesus to be a baby, a child, all normal problems and hurts like us, just without sin.

An illegitimate Son of a teenage mother.

Weakness, humility, dependency Jesus had to go through to live this life. Not a grand entrance into the world. God's gracious plan was more than anyone could imagine. We must become like little children to come into the house of God. Faith like a child.

Matthew 18:3-4 - and said, “Assuredly, I say to you, unless you are converted and become as little children, you will by no means enter the kingdom of heaven. Therefore, whoever humbles himself as this little child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.

Jesus lived this before He asked it of us. No money, no power, little wisdom, but not afraid to ask for help. If you want to be big in God's kingdom, be small in this life.  If you want to save your life, be willing to lose it.

Follow Jesus with humility and trust. Embrace His plan for your life, confident that His strength will be perfected through our weakness. Guard against self-reliance, commit to follow Christ in childlike trust and obedience.
