Chapter 6: Lamb of God Day 3

Praying the Name:

Romans 8:31-36 What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? 32 He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things? 33 Who shall bring a charge against God’s elect? It is God who justifies. 34 Who is he who condemns? It is Christ who died, and furthermore is also risen, who is even at the right hand of God, who also makes intercession for us. 35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? 36 As it is written: “For Your sake we are killed all day long; We are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.”

1 Peter 1:18-21 - knowing that you were not redeemed with corruptible things, like silver or gold, from your aimless conduct received by tradition from your fathers, 19 but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot. 20 He indeed was foreordained before the foundation of the world but was manifest in these last times for you 21 who through Him believe in God, who raised Him from the dead and gave Him glory, so that your faith and hope are in God.

Father,

I praise You for Your strong love, for loving us so much that You died for us and rose again so that we might also rise one day. Thank You and praise You for keeping watch over us too.

Thank You as well that nothing can separate us from Your love, You hold onto us even when we walk away and think we do not need You, You love us and wait for us to come back.

Father, help me to let go of my sin so that I do not put it first or hold onto it but that I let it all go and allow You to hold me up in You and Your love.

I ask that You make sure that I am thankful of Your forgiveness and that I will appreciate Your forgiveness and stand in it not being drawn back into that sin.

Thank You for loving us so much that You came as a Lamb and not a King.

In Jesus Name,

    Amen

I have found myself thinking of Jesus sacrifice who makes us whole. Have you ever wondered at the outset of Jesus public ministry, why John the Baptist hailed Him as The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world. Why did John not shout instead here comes the Messiah, or the Lion of Judah, or its the King of kings.

Instead of these powerful titles John invokes a shocking image of Jesus, as an innocent victim who will become a bloody sacrifice. The son of a priest John would have been familiar with the sacrifice system. He would have heard the braying and bleating of the innocent victims and would have seen the blood pouring out would have inhaled the pungent smell of burning animal flesh, mingling with the smokey incense in the temple.

Here comes Jesus the marked man, the bloody sacrifice, the innocent lamb who is going to be sacrificed for the sins of the whole world.

The next time you think about Jesus as the Lamb of God, discard the image of a cuddly stuffed animal, the kind that children like to carry around think rather of Jesus the innocent victim who died because He loves you. Join me in thanking Him because as far as the east is from the west so far He has removed our transgressions from us. His sacrifice is so effective, that when God looks at those who belongs to Him, He sees the Lamb who loves us. The one who has peeled sins thick disfigurement from our souls, leaving now no barrier to God's love. No wonder Paul proclaimed so confidently that nothing, neither death, nor life, neither angel or demons, nor the present or the future, nor anything else in all creation will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Romans 8:38-39 - For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, 39 nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Because our names are written in the Lambs book of life, we have become like magnets to which God's love is irresistibly drawn.
