Chapter 15: Lord Day 4

Praying the Name:

Philippians 2:5-11 -  Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus, who, being in the form of God, did not consider it [a]robbery to be equal with God, but [b]made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men. And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross. Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, 10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, 11 and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

Father,

    I praise You for the Victory of Christ on the cross, that He died, and yet He rose again so that one day we might rise with Him and be caught up to live with Him in heaven for eternity. We will have a new heaven and new earth and Jesus will rule and reign over us because He is victorious.

    I thank You that we share in His victory and that we will one day live under the victory that Christ created when He died and rose again with the keys to death and hadies.

    Help me to not forget what God has done for me, I pray confession if I have forgotten anything that You have done and desire me to remember and live in that knowledge. I am sorry to put what You have done away, help me to remember and live it daily

    Please sharpen my spiritual vision, that I see the things that You do and believe that You are working in my life every day. Help me to stay in the study and in the Word that I can see the spiritual things in which You do in my life.

    Does the Bible not say that Jesus died for us because He loves us? and does it not also say that God has raised Him to the highest place of all so that at the name of Jesus every knee shall bow, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord. So, in the end it does seem that the Bible promises us that 'love wins'.

    Jesus has already won the most important battle in history and now He is on the throne and calling the shots. But if it is true that Jesus is the clear winner in the fight against sin and evil. Why does it sometimes seem as though the outcome at least in our corner of the world is still in doubt? Because satan has not yet admitted defeat. because God wants to bring as many people into His kingdom as He can before wrapping things up. Because Christ wants our faith to be honed and perfected in that can only be accomplished in an environment of conflict and battle.

    Have you heard of contrarian, people who buy stocks when others are selling though this is not a strategy for the weak kneed, it can yield enormous returns for those whose vision is clear. I believe that Jesus wants our spiritual vision to be so clear that we can be spiritual contrarian's people who continue to believe when life is at its worst.  People who keep faith when everyone around us loses faith, people who continue to obey no matter how high the cost.

    If the apostle Paul had not had this deep certainty of Jesus power and authority, His ability to keep His promises, come what may how could he have endured being whipped and beaten shipwrecked, stoned and imprisoned,

2 Corinthians 11:26 - in journeys often, in perils of waters, in perils of robbers, in perils of my own countrymen, in perils of the Gentiles, in perils in the city, in perils in the wilderness, in perils in the sea, in perils among false brethren;

    How could He labor and toil and gone without sleep, been hungry and thirsty cold and naked. How could he have endured martyrdom. Paul was the ultimate contrarian.

    I wish I was more like him, I want to stop complaining over small things and large, press on no matter what is pressing against me. to have so clear a vision to what it means that Jesus is Lord. That my natural pessimism is converted into a large spiritual optimisms, Join me today in praising the Lord and in repenting for having so little faith. Let us plead with Him, begging Him to open our eyes to faith so that we will know the full measure of His love and the greatness of His power.
