Chapter 4: Bread of Life Day 4
Praying the Name:
Luke 24:13-35 - Now behold, two of them were traveling that same day to a village called Emmaus, which was seven miles from Jerusalem. And they talked together of all these things which had happened. So it was, while they conversed and reasoned, that Jesus Himself drew near and went with them. But their eyes were restrained, so that they did not know Him. And He said to them, “What kind of conversation is this that you have with one another as you walk and are sad?” Then the one whose name was Cleopas answered and said to Him, “Are You the only stranger in Jerusalem, and have You not known the things which happened there in these days?” And He said to them, “What things?” So, they said to Him, “The things concerning Jesus of Nazareth, who was a Prophet mighty in deed and word before God and all the people, and how the chief priests and our rulers delivered Him to be condemned to death and crucified Him. But we were hoping that it was He who was going to redeem Israel. Indeed, besides all this, today is the third day since these things happened. Yes, and certain women of our company, who arrived at the tomb early, astonished us. When they did not find His body, they came saying that they had also seen a vision of angels who said He was alive. And certain of those who were with us went to the tomb and found it just as the women had said, but Him they did not see.” Then He said to them, “O foolish ones, and slow of heart to believe in all that the prophets have spoken! Ought not the Christ to have suffered these things and to enter into His glory?” 27 And beginning at Moses and all the Prophets, He expounded to them in all the Scriptures the things concerning Himself. Then they drew near to the village where they were going, and He indicated that He would have gone farther. But they constrained Him, saying, “Abide with us, for it is toward evening, and the day is far spent.” And He went in to stay with them. Now it came to pass, as He sat at the table with them, that He took bread, blessed and broke it, and gave it to them. Then their eyes were opened, and they knew Him; and He vanished from their sight. And they said to one another, “Did not our heart burn within us while He talked with us on the road, and while He opened the Scriptures to us?” So, they rose up that very hour and returned to Jerusalem and found the eleven and those who were with them gathered together, saying, “The Lord is risen indeed, and has appeared to Simon!” And they talked about the things that had happened on the road, and how He was known to them in the breaking of bread.
Father,
I come to You Praising and Worshipping You as my bread that is broken for me, so that I am standing with You and eating of the Bread of Life in You. I ask that I can stand before You at some time, but right now I desire to lay at Your feet because I deserve nothing in this life from You, but know that You have given me everything in You. I praise You for Your love and care for me personally.
Thank You for the faithfulness of You, Jesus and the Holy Spirit all. You have come after me many times and stood with me when You should have sent me away. I am holy and great only in You and with Jesus blood covering my sinful body. You see me in a way that I cannot imagine and I thank You for that.
Forgive me for lacking the gratitude that I should have. I need to spend time thanking You for more things in my life. I ask that You help my heart to be one of Thanksgiving and joy in all things and that I stand in You so that others see that I am a thankful person.
I ask that You open my eyes to see the goodness that You put into my life and the blessings that You have shared with me. I thank You for giving me a heart that is open to seeing goodness and faithfulness even in the worst situations now. I ask that You hold onto this house and allow no more bad to happen. I need some goodness in this house for Nana and I both.
Help me not to be slow to see Your work in our lives and please show Nana the goodness in the trials and provide us with the help that we need to make this a livable home for us.
Please take us to heaven together, we are ready to come home dear Father.
Thank You for everything, for Jinx that I need help to love for Liliy that I love without end, for the chicken sweaters being so popular, keep me thanking You each day and feeding on the love that You give to me as my bread too.
In Jesus Name,
Amen
We long for tangible evidence of God's love but we fail to see it in part because we have not learned to be thankful. It is not like God likes to be thanked or needs our thanksgiving; it is because we need to focus on thanksgiving and thank Him in our lives. Expressing our gratitude, is like holding a little celebration in God's Honor. It is a way of feeding on His goodness reminding ourselves, of what He has done for us.
Thankfulness opens our eyes to God's faithfulness which in turn nourishes our faith. Skipping gratitude is like skipping the meal that God has prepared for us. Without it we just move on to the next need feeling hungry and empty without the faith to believe that God will sustain us.
Thank God for Your blessings, when You feel He is not near, thank Him for all your provisions that You do have. Be grateful and thankful to Him.
