 Chapter 5: Physician Day 3

Praying the Name:

Matthew 9:2-8 - Then behold, they brought to Him a paralytic lying on a bed. When Jesus saw their faith, He said to the paralytic, “Son, be of good cheer; your sins are forgiven you.” And at once some of the scribes said within themselves, “This Man blasphemes!” But Jesus, knowing their thoughts, said, “Why do you think evil in your hearts? For which is easier, to say, ‘Your sins are forgiven you,’ or to say, ‘Arise and walk’? But that you may know that the Son of Man has power on earth to forgive sins”—then He said to the paralytic, “Arise, take up your bed, and go to your house.” And he arose and departed to his house.  Now when the multitudes saw it, they marveled and glorified God, who had given such power to men.

Father, 

    I come today to praise You for Your healing power, for the ability You have to heal us or give us a doctor who can heal us when You choose to allow us to go through the things that we need the physician for. Knowing that You are working through them and You are ultimately in control. 

    I do thank You for the medications that make the bipolar and psoriasis better, and the ability to have these things in our crazy world. I thank You that I am fixed with about a years' worth of medication if we cannot get it anymore. 

    Father I ask forgiveness for the lazy of my life, that I cannot go out to just fill the post and makes someone else get the few little packages. Forgive me for anything that I do that takes away health from my body and I know I need to stand more and walk more as my back is getting round. Please be with me and encourage me to do what You desire for me. 

    I ask for You to touch me and heal my body, mind, and my soul. The bipolar and psoriasis need healing and the Lupus symptoms too. 

    I ask today that You bring healing to our neighborhood, that those of us which are great and many are homebound and trying to just get through the day each day. I ask that they find You in all things in their world. I ask prayer for salvation for Luke and that he desires to go with Raine and the kids to church and find You real in His life.

    What does a person's healing have to do with their sins, and with the need for forgiveness. 

       Jesus was not dealing in ignorance when He began to heal the man in Matthew 9. by reading his heart and declaring his sins forgiven. He knew that every human being suffers from what might be called a kind of spectrum disorder, think of it like this: on the low end of the spectrum is the common cold, then allergies, or arthritis, then cancer, and finally on the extreme end of the spectrum is the most dreaded condition of all death. 

    Jesus already knew what scientists can never discover, that every one of our afflictions are ultimately rooted in sin.  Sin breaks our connection with God the source of all wholeness and healing distorting and obstructing His plan for the world. 

    When Jesus told the man that his sins were forgiven, He was acting not like and ignorant physician, but like a skilled doctor. Who is not content to just treat the man's symptoms without dealing with their root cause. 

    After that the impossible happened, the man picked up his mat and walked home, Praising God!!

    Jesus our great physician is still at work forgiving our sins, healing our bodies and restoring our souls. 

    Take time today to align yourselves with His healing work by repenting of your sins, then pray for those in your family, church, or your neighborhood who are ill. Ask God to deal with the deep cause of their suffering whether rooted in their own sin or in the sinful nature of our fallen world. Ask Him to bring them complete healing, body, mind, and soul.
