Chapter 11: Word Day 5
Praying the Name:
John 1:14 - And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.
1 Thessalonians 2:13 - For this reason we also thank God without ceasing, because when you received the word of God which you heard from us, you welcomed it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which also effectively works in you who believe.
Father,
I send praises to You for giving us Your living and active Word that we will always find something new in the passages that we read that those passages will touch our hearts in different ways each time we read and study them because they are alive in us and will mean what we need to hear from God at that time. He created a living Word spoken to each man who wrote those words. Thank You!!
Yes Father, thank You for giving us the ability to read and study Your Word freely in this country for now. That will probably not be for long, but for now we are able to have studies and the Word and go to church to learn more about You. I do not see that long into the future, but for now we are a free country.
I pray for those who do not live in a free country and have to be in hiding for their Bible study and prayer. I pray that You strengthen them and give them the desire to learn and grow. I ask that the people in countries that have the freedom to study that they have that desire to study like those in unfree countries. Help us all here to desire the Word we have and not take it for granted.
Father forgive me for not studying and reading the Word as You have me to do. Give me the desire to be in Your Word or listening to Your Word that I might share with the girls the Word You have given me and why.
Please give me the hunger that I need to spend time in Your Word learning and growing in You. I need a great hunger again.
Thank You Father for giving me the hunger that You will give to me now.
In Jesus Name,
Amen
Do you remember reading your first Bible? Did you know that God speaks to us through His Word? It is not easy or always pleasant to start out, but the more we read the more we see, connections are made, lights go on, God speaks. Often when we are going through something God will bring back what we have read. Pray that You are hungry for the Word of God. God will reward us in our lives when we read His Word, He brings things we read back to us when we need it.
Matthew 7:9-11 - Or what man is there among you who, if his son asks for bread, will give him a stone? 10 Or if he asks for a fish, will he give him a serpent? 11 If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask Him!
Galatians 6:9 - And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart.
Whenever I start to feel discouraged, I aim that passage to my fears, this shows me the importance of opening and reading God's Word. Motivating me to do and get through the days. Opening myself to God's Word it is a way to invest myself in the conversation that God wants to have with me. It is a way of clearing the channel of communication of giving Him room to speak as I listen. He wants to speak to all of His children through the Words of scripture.
As you read Pray, ask Jesus the Word made flesh, to communicate His heart and mind with you He is eager to speak, be eager to listen, decide to base your life on His word, learn to lean all your weight on it, it will hold you, nourish you challenge you and change you if you let it God's word will become flesh inside you.
