 Chapter 16: Friend Day 6

Promises Associated with His Name:

    Friendships are rarely neutral and that they take us somewhere either up or down, even the best friendship can take a downward turn at times because it is forged by two imperfect people. But what happens when the equation changes when one side of the friendship includes someone who is absolutely perfect? Does it not have the potential depending on our willingness to always take us upward?

    Thank Christ today for being the only friend capable of loving you always, let His friendship bring Joy to your heart.

Promises in Scripture:

Proverbs 17:17 - A friend loves at all times, And a brother is born for adversity.

Proverbs 27:9 - Ointment and perfume delight the heart, And the sweetness of a man’s friend gives delight by hearty counsel.

Continued Prayer and Praise:

Recall that God Speaks to His Friends;

Exodus 33:7-11 - Moses took his tent and pitched it outside the camp, far from the camp, and called it the tabernacle of meeting. And it came to pass that everyone who sought the Lord went out to the tabernacle of meeting which was outside the camp. So it was, whenever Moses went out to the tabernacle, that all the people rose, and each man stood at his tent door and watched Moses until he had gone into the tabernacle. And it came to pass, when Moses entered the tabernacle, that the pillar of cloud descended and stood at the door of the tabernacle, and the Lord talked with Moses. 10 All the people saw the pillar of cloud standing at the tabernacle door, and all the people rose and worshiped, each man in his tent door. 11 So the Lord spoke to Moses face to face, as a man speaks to his friend. And he would return to the camp, but his servant Joshua the son of Nun, a young man, did not depart from the tabernacle.

Pray for Christ to Watch over You:

Job 29:2-6 - “Oh, that I were as in months past,  As in the days when God watched over me; 3  When His lamp shone upon my head, And when by His light I walked through darkness; 4  Just as I was in the days of my prime, When the friendly counsel of God was over my tent; 5  When the Almighty was yet with me, When my children were around me; 6  When my steps were bathed with [a]cream, And the rock poured out rivers of oil for me!

Consider that a cord with three strands is not easily broken:

Ecclesiastes 4:9-12 - Two are better than one, Because they have a good reward for their  labor. 10  For if they fall, one will lift up his companion. But woe to him who is alone when he falls, For he has no one to help him up. 11  Again, if two lie down together, they will keep warm; But how can one be warm alone? 12 Though one may be overpowered by another, two can withstand him. And a threefold cord is not quickly broken.

Remember that it is possible to betray Christ's friendship:

Matthew 26:47-51 - And while He was still speaking, behold, Judas, one of the twelve, with a great multitude with swords and clubs, came from the chief priests and elders of the people. 48 Now His betrayer had given them a sign, saying, “Whomever I kiss, He is the One; seize Him.” 49 Immediately he went up to Jesus and said, “Greetings, Rabbi!” and kissed Him. 50 But Jesus said to him, “Friend, why have you come?” Then they came and laid hands on Jesus and took Him. 51 And suddenly, one of those who were with Jesus stretched out his hand and drew his sword, struck the servant of the high priest, and cut off his ear.

Consider how Jeus befriends sinners:

Luke 5:17-20 -  Now it happened on a certain day, as He was teaching, that there were Pharisees and teachers of the law sitting by, who had come out of every town of Galilee, Judea, and Jerusalem. And the power of the Lord was present [a]to heal them. 18 Then behold, men brought on a bed a man who was paralyzed, whom they sought to bring in and lay before Him. 19 And when they could not find how they might bring him in, because of the crowd, they went up on the housetop and let him down with his bed through the tiling into the midst before Jesus. 20 When He saw their faith, He said to him, “Man, your sins are forgiven you.”

Recognize Christ as your friend:

John 21:4-7 = But when the morning had now come, Jesus stood on the shore; yet the disciples did not know that it was Jesus. Then Jesus said to them, “Children, have you any food?” They answered Him, “No.” And He said to them, “Cast the net on the right side of the boat, and you will find some. So they cast, and now they were not able to draw it in because of the multitude of fish. Therefore that disciple whom Jesus loved said to Peter, “It is the Lord!” Now when Simon Peter heard that it was the Lord, he put on his outer garment (for he had removed it), and plunged into the sea.

Act like Christs friend;

James 2:20-24 - 20 But do you want to know, O foolish man, that faith without works is [a]dead? 21 Was not Abraham our father justified by works when he offered Isaac his son on the altar? 22 Do you see that faith was working together with his works, and by works faith was made [b]perfect? 23 And the Scripture was fulfilled which says, “Abraham believed God, and it was [c]accounted to him for righteousness.” And he was called the friend of God. 24 You see then that a man is justified by works, and not by faith only.
