Chapter 20: Son of David Day 5

Praying the Name:

2 Timothy 2:8-10 - Remember that Jesus Christ, of the seed of David, was raised from the dead according to my gospel, for which I suffer trouble as an evildoer, even to the point of chains; but the word of God is not chained. 10 Therefore I endure all things for the sake of the elect, that they also may obtain the salvation which is in Christ Jesus with eternal glory.

Father,

I praise You for opening our ears and hearts with Your mercy, I praise you for pouring down that mercy upon us and loving us so much that You gave us the mercy we did not deserve.

Thank You for wanting to spend time sharing Your kingdom through us and help us to be a good influence to others for the love that we have for You. Spread Your kingdom through me to the girls that I am in contact with.

If I have any reluctance to sharing the gospel with others I am sorry but I will try to be better at it and happy to share with my girls and others in their lives. I am blessed to know You so I can share You.

Help me to tell others how much You love me and even with all of my faults I am sorry that I am not spreading it as much as You might like. Help me to be open with others and Your love.

Jesus the Son of David I pray that You give me more love for my girls that I can love them no matter what in my life we need. I want to be devoted to the girls and sharing You always. I ask that You give me Your heart for those that do not know You and for the girls that need salvation too.

Help the people that You put in my life to want to come know Jesus so that it is an easy sharing for them, even if it takes time, just no hostel times.

    Thank You for this study!

In Jesus Name,

    Amen

Successful publishers put out what people want to read not what they need to read. Christian publishers rarely put out books about missions or evangelism because they know readers do not feel the need for those books even if it would be good that they read them. In most readers, including myself as I have a slight aversion to the word evangelism, it reminds us of what we should be doing even if we would rather not.

Why do some people find evangelism difficult? Maybe because before we can hear the Word of God we need Him to open our ears to hear. We are not naturally ready to hear these words, but most are spiritually deaf. The prophets anguished over God's people and their deafness to salvation and evangelism, even Jesus wept for Jerusalem.

Pastors run up against that too; they try to share but if the people are not open to the message that He preaches then they will not hear and obey. After the fall from grace, we are born spiritually autistic, we are self-centered and self-enclosed. In our natural state it is hard to have a breakthrough for the love and salvation of God.

Only grace can forge an opening for the Gospel people are free to resist that grace if they so choose too. We all do not like to encounter resistance, it is a far deeper problem for us though we lack the love of God, if we loved people more we would have the anguish that Jesus has to bring more people to Him. Our hearts do not love as God loves, and we are not desperate to bring others to Him. We are called to bring others to the kingdom that is our goal in life, the work that God gave to us.
