 Chapter 18: Jesus the Savior Day 5

Praying the Name: 

Luke 2:11-14 - For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. 12 And this will be the sign to you: You will find a Babe wrapped in swaddling cloths, lying in a manger.” 13 And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying: “Glory to God in the highest, And on earth peace, goodwill toward men!”

2 Thessalonians 1:11-12 - Therefore we also pray always for you that our God would count you worthy of this calling, and fulfill all the good pleasure of His goodness and the work of faith with power, 12 that the name of our Lord Jesus Christ may be glorified in you, and you in Him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ.

Father, 

    I praise You for the greatness of Your glory and that You have come to share that glory for each one of us when we call on Your name and stand with You until the end. 

    I thank You for allowing us to bear Your image and stand with You in all things that we do knowing You and living in Your image. 

    Forgive me for any time that I have been more worried about my glory than Your glory and help me to stand in You and not my own life. I ask in the girls that I reach through Compassion that I will be more to them and You and nothing on me myself or I. Help me glory in reaching girls and not in reaching a limit of girls. Focus on those I write too and not on the quantity. 

    Please fill my primary purpose in my life and I think You are doing that in the girls that I minister to. I want to be all You desire for these girls and do their letters, and devotions and things first all the time. 

    Thank You Lord,

    What is the yearning for glory? It is a longing for something beautiful shining and powerful, for something beyond ourselves, that we can make part of ourselves. A yearning for glory, but what does this yearning have to do with Jesus a Savior, to begin with it is important to realize that Jesus Saving work has both negative and positive dimensions. First we are saved from something, Jesus rescued us from God's wrath directed at our sins, second, we are saved for something Jesus saves us so we can fulfill the primary purpose for which God made us.

    Think for a moment about a time when you sat by the edge of an ocean or a lake, transfixed by the beauty of the waves, as light danced across them. That is a picture of how we are meant to reflect God's light to the world. We are to shine with His presence, power and love. Scripture is full of this notion, the book of Daniel tells of a time when those who belong to God will shine like the brightness of the heavens, like the stars forever and ever, 

Daniel 12:3 - Those who are wise shall shine Like the brightness of the firmament, And those who turn many to righteousness Like the stars forever and ever.

    Saint Paul assures the Roman Christians, 

Romans 8:18 -  For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.

    Additional passages speak of the Lord of Glory, Christ in You the hope of glory, and the crown of glory that will never fade away this craving for glory seems to be imbedded in our spiritual DNA, It is something God has hard wired into our souls but sin has so distorted the human genes that our search for glory is often misguided, we look for it in flimsy temporal things, such as success, money, relationships, personal charm and beauty. None of which can ultimately satisfy. Apart from God we are nothing. Worldly glory is like as to tinsel, to the glory of God. 

    Today as you worship Yeshua the Lord of Glory, give into your appetite for glory by praying the refrain, from Graham Kendricks well known song, Shine Jesus Shine, fill this land with the Father's glory, blaze spirit blaze, set our hearts on fire, flow river flow, flood the nations with grace and mercy, send forth Your Word Lord and let there be light.

 Chapter 2: Light of the World Day 2 The Name Revealed!!
