Chapter 26: I AM Day 6

Promises Associated with His Name:

Of all the promises of Jesus in the Bible none is greater than this: I am the resurrection and the life, anyone who believes in me will live, even though they die, and whoever lives by believing in me, will never die,

John 11:25 - Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live.

If Jesus had not made this promise, every other promise would be a short term warranty set to expire on our death. His own resurrection validates His plans and promises,

Biblical scholar and theologian Eldon Ladd once remarked about John's account of the resurrection, that it seems to be the evangelist's pension to suggest, that Peter saw the grave clothes lying like a chrysalis out of which the risen body of the Lord had emerged, that is a picture we can claim for ourselves, that death for us will be like the butterflies chrysalis this life nearly a shape we shed when we enter into the life that will never end.

By living and dying to save us, Jesus Himself becomes the promise we live by He is the truth we stand on, the bread that nourishes us the shepherd who leads us the vine that makes us fruitful, He is the resurrection for which we hope, and the gateway for life eternal. He is all of these things and more the Almighty, Everlasting God, the one who is the great I AM,

Promises in Scripture:

John 11:21-26 -  Now Martha said to Jesus, “Lord, if You had been here, my brother would not have died. 22 But even now I know that whatever You ask of God, God will give You.” 23 Jesus said to her, “Your brother will rise again.” 24 Martha said to Him, “I know that he will rise again in the resurrection at the last day.” 25 Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live. 26 And whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die. Do you believe this?”

Continued Prayer and Praise:

Remember that Jesus will Never Leave Us:

Matthew 28:20 - teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” [a]Amen.

Know that Jesus is God:

Matthew 16:15-16 - He said to them, “But who do you say that I am?” 16 Simon Peter answered and said, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.”

Mark 14:61-62 -  But He kept silent and answered nothing. Again the high priest asked Him, saying to Him, “Are You the Christ, the Son of the Blessed?” 62 Jesus said, “I am. And you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of the Power, and coming with the clouds of heaven.”

Realize that Jesus is the beginning and the end:

Revelation 1:8 - “I am the Alpha and the Omega, [a]the Beginning and the End,” says the [b]Lord, “who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.”

Revelation 1:17 -  And when I saw Him, I fell at His feet as dead. But He laid His right hand on me, saying [a]to me, “Do not be afraid; I am the First and the Last.

Revelations 21:6 - And He said to me, “It[a] is done! I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. I will give of the fountain of the water of life freely to him who thirsts.
