 Chapter 26: I AM Day 3

Praying the Name:

Matthew 14:25-27 - Now in the fourth watch of the night Jesus went to them, walking on the sea. 26 And when the disciples saw Him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, “It is a ghost!” And they cried out for fear. 27 But immediately Jesus spoke to them, saying, [a]“Be of good cheer! [b]It is I; do not be afraid.”

John 18:4-6 -  Jesus therefore, knowing all things that would come upon Him, went forward and said to them, “Whom are you seeking?” 5 They answered Him, “Jesus [a]of Nazareth.” Jesus said to them, “I am He.” And Judas, who betrayed Him, also stood with them. 6 Now when He said to them, “I am He,” they drew back and fell to the ground.

Lord, 

    I praise You God for being with us. For not only understanding us as Your created beings with all the things that You put into us but for coming to earth and living so You understand what is going on in our lives now too. You know us and what we face in life. 

    Thank You for always showing Yourself in my life and for being here always even when I did not think I needed You. I want to go back Lord knowing now so that I can be for You a true vine. I want to change who I always was and be committed to You in a way only You can provide. 

    Forgive me if there was a time that I believe you abandoned me and help me to stand with You now for all my people and be in heaven and not be thought of for who I was or who I am now, but for who You designed me to be in the end. Thank You for always forgiving and setting us all back on track. 

    I ask Father that You will open my eyes to see Your power in my life. that my heart and mind would be open to You as well, I want to pull You in and hang on each day for all that time that You have given me. Thank You for wanting for me the best that I can be. 

    John's Gospel in its first chapter, tells us that the world Jesus made was so dimwitted that they did not recognize Him when He entered it. The most momentous thing that occurred since the worlds beginning God becoming a human being and hardly anyone took notice of it. The earth did not move, the trees did not dance for joy, and only a few people bowed down before the Christ to adore Him, Yet there were numerous signs throughout the life of Jesus for anyone who was paying attention. One of these happened in the middle of the night in the sea of Galilee. 

    The previous day, Jesus had fed 5,000 people with a few loaves and a couple of fish, after that He sent His disciples out in a boat while He went up the mountainside to pray. Matthew's Gospel tells us that something extraordinary happened between three and six in the morning. The disciples were in their boat straining at the ores because of a great headwind. Suddenly they saw a figure on the water and cried out in fear thinking they were seeing a ghost, but it was only Jesus who calmed them by saying "Take courage, it is I." 

    To the Jewish people the sea represents chaos, it is a place where demonic powers ruled, only Yahweh could control it and here was Jesus walking on it, then Jesus said, "Take courage, it is I" which can literally be translated, 'take courage, I AM'. There was also the occasion of Jesus arrest in the garden of gethsemane, Judis came with a detachment of soldiers, and some officials from the chief priest, and pharisees, knowing exactly what was going to happen to Him Jesus took control of the situation, by asking whom they were looking for, 

    Has it ever struck you as odd that the gang of men who came to arrest Him armed with torches and weapons simply collapsed when Jesus identified Himself as "It is I" It may help to understand that the words Jesus spoke can literally be translated 'I AM', His enemies fell to the ground unable to stand in the presence of God. Jesus' whose name means "Yahweh is Salvation" is the great I AM, the one who is always present with us whether or not we recognize Him, Whatever difficulties you may face, whatever storms may threaten, pray for the grace to have eyes and ears wide open so that you can perceive the Lord saying, "take courage, I AM"

 Chapter 2: Light of the World Day 2 The Name Revealed!!
